Senior Learning Technologist
My background is in web development (client/server programming). I have various computer & networking related qualifications and I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
I have worked at the institution for 16 years first joining the Faculty of Education working on a project called CLEO (Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online). I have since worked in a number of departments chiefly focusing on online learning technology.
I was involved in launching the very first online distance learning course through Blackboard back in 2002. Since then I have since developed various Blackboard plugin tool solutions (apps) that add extra functionality to our Bb system, many of which you will be unaware you have used.
Roles & responsibilities
Part of my role involves system admin work on Blackboard which is used to further develop and enhance the system and also to integrate with other university systems.
I provide consultancy on all aspects of Blackboard from structuring learning content to finding assessment and feedback solutions. I also have experience in designing and delivering TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) workshops and demonstrations to staff.
Interests
I try to avoid driving cars, preferring to walk or cycle where possible. I love nature, various forms of art and enjoy yoga.
