FEST 2019

The Learning & Teaching Fest 2019 will take place on Wednesday 3rd July at Fusehill Street campus, Carlisle in the hope that you will engage your teams in considering putting in a proposal and of course attending! The theme this year, set by the VC, is Innovation. We are trying out a new format with a range of different session types to include academic and professional service teams as well as students. Presenters will need to ensure their interactive session focuses on 1 of the 4 themes in the LTA Strategy and we suggest they approach their contribution under the sub categories of Research informed Teaching, Practitioner Stories, Student Stories. Practitioner is not just academic – we welcome contributions from our professional service areas who support students, teaching, learning and assessment in any way.

After the morning keynote, there will be a series of sessions delivered by key staff in AQD and beyond to launch the LTA Strategy action plan for 2019/20 and 2020/21. This will give colleagues a genuine opportunity to engage with the institutional level projects which will drive progress and improvements in LTA focussed activity – we are keen to hear from a range of colleagues and appreciate your support in encouraging them to attend these sessions, and others.

The Fest is also a great opportunity for academic staff who have been awarded sabbaticals to share with their colleagues their learning in that time and how they will use this to the benefit of UoC – any help you can give with encouraging colleagues in this position to share would be welcomed.

There is a lot of planning going into the Fest, as you appreciate, to ensure that the day gives us all time to stop, talk about and make informed plans for our core business. We will endeavour to make the day relevant with opportunities to learn and provide feedback on future work, with heavy sprinkles of enjoyment and fun. Please can you support this important event by encouraging attendance within your areas.

The call for proposals link for circulation to colleagues, formal invitations for all UoC colleagues and other details will be coming soon to offices and corridors near you and in the Friday Global.
